Hi im trying to install the 2008 student editon of solidworks but when installing these two error messages appear, does anyone know how to correct this please,
Error 2809.on the dialog MsiRMFilesInUse the next control pointers do not form a cycle. There is a pointer from restart to list, but there is no further pointer.
Error 2866. The dialog MsiRMFilesInUse is not allowed to return the argument 6.

Hey Ian,
Could you please tell me which OS you are using?
XP, Vista- Enterprise, Home etc.
I'll try to troubleshoot the issue when I get the info

Hey Ian,
SolidWorks Educational 2007-2008 is Vista compatible; unfortunately the home version of Vista
is not compatible. Even with Windows XP, it has to be "professional" version, not home version.
I guess that's the first problem. But anyway it should be possible to install SolidWorks...
Regarding to the error messages:
What appears to be happening in this case is there is a running program or programs that would need
to be shutdown to allow the installer to complete without triggering a reboot. The installer is failing when
trying to launch the dialog.e
So I would suggest, try to install again, make sure all programs (also virus and spyware) are shut off.
Additional make sure you are using the installation manager (sldim) and not the .msi file for installation.
