SolidWorks has been launching a program for 3 years allowing students at a European school that owns at least 10 licenses of SolidWorks® Education Edition software under subscription, to download the new SolidWorks Student Design Kit (2008-2009) product. This is a special 365-day license, kind of enlighten version of the SolidWorks Student Edition.

The SolidWorks Student Design Kit provides the functionality found in SolidWorks 2008 and includes:
- SolidWorks® 2008
- SolidWorks Animator (animation tools)
- PhotoWorks™ (photo-realistic rendering)
