Hello,

This is a change of gears (pardon the pun) from my normal complaints about bugs and crashes. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to accurately sketch involute curves, or better yet, involute gears? I'm using Solidworks 2007. It'd be very nice to get a true involute.

I did a brief search on the internet and found the main advice was "you don't need to draw the true involute shape, because you just specify on the drawing that it should be an involute, and the machine shop will cut it for you". But I am planning to cut my own gears on a waterjet, so I'd like to tell the CNC machine precisely what shape it should cut.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jacob
